It’s still 60 degrees outside, but we’ve been thinking a lot about the cold lately. It’s not that we especially dig the arctic freeze, but now’s the time for cold weather workers to gear up for another season of fighting the elements. One of the favorite items of the Safety Genie is the Baffin Polar Safety Derrick Extreme Boot. There’s not just ONE reason why I dig the boot. Just look at it.
Insulated footwear doesn’t get any cooler. It’s got reflective stripes, a multilayered sole, and a cool barrel lock at the top to keep out ice and snow. And oh yeah, it’s rated to -148°F. That’s right, -148!! If you need a boot for temps colder than that, then you’re working on Mars (at night).
I read a blog posting by an oil field worker on the Bakken oilfield in Willison, North Dakota yesterday. It warned prospective workers to spend a little extra to buy quality cold weather workwear before heading to North Dakota. Baffin is definitely in that mold.
